Abstract
Brachythecium bellicum sp. nov. is described from Morocco, northern Africa. It belongs to section Velutina De Not. and the diagnostic characters are t he longly apiculate, smooth or scarcely plicate leaves, costa extending to the middle of the leaf and the smooth seta.
