Abstract
Small samples of I-129 and Np-237. two long-lived radwaste nuclides. were e xposed to spallation neutron fluences from relatively small metal targets o f lead and uranium, that were surrounded with a 6cm thick paraffin moderato r, and irradiated with 1.5, 3.7 and 7.4GeV protons. The (n,gamma) transmuta tion rates were determined for these nuclides, Conventional radiochemical L a- and U-sensors and a variety of solid-state nuclear track detectors were irradiated simultaneously with secondary neutrons. Compared with results fr om calculations with well-known cascade codes
