Abstract
The nonlinear optical properties of a series of C-60 derivatives with diffe rent substituents are reported. The optical limiting properties of C-60 der ivatives were measured using the second harmonic of a Q-switched Nd:YAG at 532 nm, the third-order optical nonlinearities of C-60 derivatives in solut ion were studied by using nanosecond degenerate four-wave-mixing method. Th e values of the third-order hyperpolarizabilities gamma ((3)) and the third -order nonlinear optical susceptibilities chi ((3)) Of C-60 derivatives wer e obtained. The experimental results show that different substituents have different effects on the nonlinear optical properties of C-60 derivatives. (C) 2001 Published by Elsevier Science B.V.
