Abstract
The phason mode in inclusion compounds is investigated using the double cha in model, which consists of two mutually interacting chains. This model gen eralizes the Frenkel-Kontorova model to a system where both sublattices are deformable. The phase diagram in parameter space contains a region with a zero-frequency phason and a region with a phason gap. In comparison with ea rlier work, the phase-transition line is not convex. The dynamic structure factor around Bragg and satellite peaks is calculated to find conditions ne eded to measure the phason mode in experiment.
