The thermal stability of lignin-hydroxy terminated polybutadiene (HTPB) cop
olyurethane and HTPB polyurethane has been studied by differential scanning
calorimetry (DSC), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and isothermal aging i
n air at various temperatures. All the results show better thermal stabilit
y of lignin-HTPB copolyurethane than that of HTPB polyurethane. The structu
ral changes in the polyurethanes during isothermal heating have also been s
tudied by IR spectroscopy. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserv
