Abstract
Tick-borne illnesses have become more common and widespread in the United S tates because of such diverse factors as climate change, increased deer pop ulations, suburban development, and participation in outdoor recreation. In addition to Lyme disease, such vector-borne illnesses as ehrlichioses and rickettsioses also have emerged as important clinical considerations. In th is article, Drs Goodman, Lazarus, and Martin review several tick-related il lnesses to provide a framework for the evaluation and treatment of tick bit es and associated diseases during this year's tick season.
