Y. Lou et al., HOLE STRUCTURES OF POLYMERS AND ZEOLITES PROBED BY 2-DIMENSIONAL ANGULAR-CORRELATION OF ANNIHILATION RADIATION, Journal of radioanalytical and nuclear chemistry, 211(1), 1996, pp. 85-91
The two-dimensional angular correlation of annihilation radiation (2D-
ACAR) technique has been developed to measure the hole structure of st
retched and oriented polymers. The determination of polymer hole struc
ture is demonstrated in a stretched semi-crystalline polyaryl-ether-et
her-ketone (PEEK) sample. The atomic scale anisotropy is found to be c
onsistent with the macroscopic scale stretch ratio. Applications of th
e 2D-ACAR method to image the three-dimensional hole, free-volume, and
cavity structures of molecular systems are discussed.
