Abstract
Comprehensive pathologic evaluation of the sentinel lymph node using step s ections and cytokeratin immunohistochemistry enhances detection of micromet astases and optimizes the staging of breast carcinoma. This review discusse s our current understanding of the pathologic and molecular techniques for sentinel node examination.
