Promoting work safety through the company intranet

This article explains what is meant by an intranet and describes how the in tranet is used at Pfeifer & Langen to promote work safety. For this purpose , it was necessary to develop and implement a concept tailored to the requi rements of the company's work safety management. The intranet is a platform which makes available internal company information and resources, offering access to databases, updated monthly, which cover the entire rule book reg arding work safety and environmental protection. Considerable time and cost savings are achieved through the uniform pool of service provisions. The c ompany information includes the topics of accidents and risk assessments as well as health concerns. Resources, such as forms, can be called up and pr ocessed directly through the intranet, and training materials can be deploy ed without additional effort in printed form as transparencies or directly on work station PCs. A user analysis shows that the facility is frequently visited and confirms its usefulness.
