Abstract
Seeds of barley (c.v. Pakistani 30163) were irradiated with 0, 15 and 20 Gy of gamma rays, and cultured on nutrient media, containing 0, 10, 50 and 10 0 meq.l(-1) of NaCl. Zero and 20 Gy and 10 meq.l(-1) NaCl, increased Ca++ a nd K+ contents of all plants. Fifty meq.l(-1) NaCl decreased Mg++ content. Ten and 50 meq.l(-1) NaCl increased the % of total N and P contents of all barley plants. Na+ and CI contents increased with increasing laCI concentra tions in the media. Fifty meq.l(-1) NaCl increased the cationic sum. The ra tio of Na+/Cl- differed from one.
