In this study, insecticidal potential of Serratia marcescens Bn10 isolated
from Bolaninus nucum against 9 important plant pests was investigated. The
results show that this bacterium has very high insecticidal effects, 70, 55
, 58, 10, 78, 88, 100 and 92% on the larvae of Agelostica alni (alnus leaf
beetle), Curculio elephas (chestnut weevil), Euproctis chrysorrhoea (brown
tail mouth), Hyphantria cunea (fall web worm), Malacosoma neustria (lackey
moth), Neodiprion sertifer (European pine sawfly), Pieris brassicae (large
white) and Yponomeuta malinellus (apple ermine moth), and 78, 48% on the ad
ults of Balaninus nucum (hazelnut weevil) and Agelastica alni (alnus leaf b
eetle) respectively. Results of this study indicate that Serratia marcescen
s Bn10 has a potential use in the bio-control of noxious insects.
