A. Puskarova et al., Putative Cd-stress proteins YodA, YrpE and pXO1-130 share sequence similarity with adhesin AdcA, BIOLOGIA, 56(3), 2001, pp. 337-339
Three hypothetical stress proteins. YodA, YrpE and pXO1-130, forming a puta
tive family of bacterial Cd-stress proteins, were found to exhibit sequence
similarity with the 200 amino acid residues long C-terminal part of strept
ococcal adhesin, AdcA, which belongs to the family 9 of extracellular solut
e-binding receptors of bacteria. The sequence identity between the putative
stress proteins and the C-terminal domain of adhesin is 34.2%. A weak sequ
ence similarity between YodA and the N-terminal third of some bacterial cop
per-binding amine oxidases recognised previously is also discussed, however
, the results presented here support the idea on common functional and stru
ctural features of all the three putative stress proteins and the C-termina
l domain of adhesin and adhesin-like proteins.
