Research is a central part of the increasingly important role of toes in th
e development of conservation biology. Expanding our understanding of both
in-situ and ex-situ conservation techniques requires people with the skills
to carry out high quality research, and to present the results to the zoo
and conservation community at large. This paper presents a list of the 1999
publications and conference presentations of the staff of the Durrell Wild
life Conservation Trust and of collaborators affiliated with the Trust. An
analysis of the scientific output of the Trust's staff since 1993 shows tha
t research output has increased steadily, as has the number of individual s
taff members involved in carrying out and presenting the results of researc
h studies.
