K. Okajima et al., Evaluation of metal-loaded activated carbon electrode for electrochemical capacitor prepared by plasma CVD method, ELECTROCH, 69(6), 2001, pp. 428-430
Aiming to increase the capacitance with double-layer capacitance and pseudo
capacitance, metal-loaded active carbon fiber (ACF) electrodes for use in e
lectrochemical capacitors were prepared by the plasma enhanced chemical vap
or deposition method. Platinum was used as the loaded material, and the pre
paration conditions such as substrate temperature, concentration of the aqu
eous Pt solution and plasma output were investigated. For the Pt-loaded ACF
samples with a specific surface area of 1,500 m(2)/g, the capacitance incr
eased by 24% compared to the untreated sample, and the highest electric cap
acity value of 306 F/g was achieved at a substrate temperature of the 250 d
egreesC.
