A Cu-porous carbon composite prepared from sawdust was applied to the elect
rode of the electric double-layer capacitor (EDLC). The Cu-carbon composite
s were characterized and the properties of the electrode of EDLC were inves
tigated. The carbonaceous material prepared from the sawdust and impregnate
d with Cu(NO3)(2) showed higher capacitance than the commercial activated c
arbon. The capacitance was dependent on the Cu-content in the composite. Th
e highest capacitance was obtained when Cu-content was 0.086 Cu-g/g.
