Abstract
The enantioselective synthesis and determination of the absolute configurat ion of the title compound (-)-1 has been carried out starting from karahana lactone (+)-2 as an enantiopure building block. The structure was confirme d by single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis and the optical purity of (- )(1S,3R)-elegansidiol (-)-1 verified by chiral HPLC.
