The gain enhancement of an annular slot antenna fed by a cavity is studied
numerically. The method of moments for bodies of revolution is used as a nu
merical tool for the simulations. The effect of different parameters is inv
estigated and methods for gain enhancement are proposed. It is shown that t
he antenna gain can be increased by adding a dielectric layer, or conductin
g ring above the slots. An open cavity with additional chokes can also be u
sed to decrease the backlobe level and increase the gain.
