The mass spectrometric behaviour of a series of new derivatives of Fos
carnet was studied with fast-atom bombardment and collision-induced di
ssociation experiments in positive- and negative-ion modes. For the co
mpounds esterified with a 2-(S-pivaloyl)thioethyl [tert-butyl)SATE] gr
oup a rearrangement of the thioester linkage with expulsion of 60 u do
