Abstract
An eutectic mixture of 2,6-dimethylanthracene VI and 2,7-dimethylantra cene VII was formed during deterbutylation reaction of calix[n]arenes in toluene with aluminium chloride as catalyst. Using the deterbutylat ion of p-tert- butylcalix [4]arene I as a model we propose a mechanism of their formation.
