Analysis of dissolved and suspended solids components showed the varia
nts of white water composition with location on a paper machine. Sampl
es came from points on the forming and press sections at a newsprint m
ill using thermomechanical pulp and a mixture of deinked pulp containi
ng old newsprint and old magazines. Total suspended solids, total diss
olved solids, and ash content data provide a qualitative picture of th
e removal of white water components from the paper sheet through the w
et end of a paper machine.
