F. Giovannelli et al., Effect of the composition and process on the Nd1Ba2Cu3Oy bulk properties in oxygen-controlled melt growth synthesis, MAT SCI E B, 83(1-3), 2001, pp. 210-216
Nd1 + y Ba2 - yCu3Oy, bulk superconductors have been synthesised by the oxy
gen-controlled melt growth method (OCMG). The texturing thermal cycle of th
e pellets has been optimised and the influence of the support determined. T
hen. the effects of Nd4Ba2Cu2O10, and Nd-3.6 Ba2.4Cu1.8 O-9.6. additions an
d Ce, Sn and Ag dopants on the microstructure and the superconducting prope
rties have been tested. Under low field, good properties are obtained due t
o the refinement of the secondary phases. An oxygen-annealing with 600 degr
eesC steps has been investigated. To improve superconducting properties und
er high field, a cooling rate of 1 degreesC h (1) during 20 degreesC after
the nucleation window has a benefit effect. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science B.V.
