Abstract
A numerical code has been developed for the full-wave determination of the resonant frequencies and quality factors of microstrip patches with right-a ngle corners of arbitrary shape. The rode is based on the solution of an el ectric-field integral equation (EFIE) by means of Galerkin's method in the spectral domain. The numerical code is used for the comparative analysis of microstrip patches of different shapes used as reduced-size resonators and antennas. Out Of the patches studied, the bilateral comb-shaped patch and tire meander-shaped parch rum our to provide the largest size reduction for a given resonant frequency at the expense of showing at once the largest q uality factors.
