Dielectric resonator antennas of conical shapes are experimentally examined
. The dielectric cone resides above a ground plane and is excited by a coax
ial probe. Two configurations of the cone are tested: one with the wide bas
e placed on the ground plane, and the other with the cone inr erred on the
ground plane Results show that the inverted cone achieves a wider bandwidth
