Abstract
The cellular mechanisms of epileptogenesis are reviewed as related to their role(s) in the expression of hyperexcitability and hypersynchrony. The dat a on the roles of the glutamate, GABA, acetylcholine, and adenosine recepto rs is discussed. The recent information on the role of glial cells in the e xpression of epileptogenicity is reviewed.
