Abstract
Osteonecrosis of the femoral head following intramedullary fixation of pedi atric femur fractures is a rare but catastrophic complication. To avoid thi s complication, adult tibial nails can be inserted lateral to the tip of th e trochanter for the treatment of femoral diaphyseal fractures in patients with open physes.
