Equilibrium Langevin dynamics of one-dimensional Lennard-Jones chains is st
udied. It is shown that depending on the noise strength, the friction const
ant and the number of particles, chains can synchronize, break, or remain d
esynchronized. Generally the synchronization time and the maximal Lyapunov
exponent are found to depend on the number of particles and the ratio of no
ise strength to friction constant.
