Abstract
Studied in the present paper are the mechanisms limiting the dispersity of powdered systems prepared by mechanical activation. The most efficient mech anism has been demonstrated to be the transition of the powder particles to superplasticity after which further milling stops completely. The processe s of both transition to superplasticity and milling have been described thr ough the concept of macrodislocations. The estimates of the parameters of t he finest dispersity of the powders prepared by the technique in question h ave been obtained.
