C. Van Dyk et al., Haemoptysis in a patient with a pulmonary mass and previous tuberculosis -Pulmonary arterio-arterial malformation, RESPIRATION, 68(3), 2001, pp. 331-333
A 35-year-old gentleman was referred to our respiratory clinic in September
1999 with continuous haemoptysis and a mass lesion in the right lung. He h
ad undergone a full 6-month course for previous tuberculosis in 1995. Some
months prior to the current admission, he had presented to his local clinic
with haemoptysis and symptoms suggestive of pulmonary tuberculosis. Althou
gh his sputum analysis was negative for acid-fast bacilli, he was empirical
ly put on treatment for suspected reactivation of pulmonary tuberculosis.
He also had a 20 pack-year smoking history.
