Regularities in the retention of substituted o-benzoquinones in high-performance liquid chromatography

Regularities of the retention of substituted o-benzoquinones in normal-phas e high-performance liquid chromatography were studied. It was shown that, f or 3-alkyl-6-tert-butyl-o-benzoquinones, the retention time increases with decreasing alkyl substituent steric constant, it was established that the r etention of 4-alkyl-3,6-di-tert-butyl-o-benzoquinones is affected by electr onic and steric effects. Optimum conditions for separating and analyzing th e final product of the reactions of addition of alkyl derivatives of Cd, Zn , and phenyl lithium to 3,6-di-tert-butyl-o-benzoquinone were determined.
