Abstract
High interlaminar stresses in the vicinity of free edges of composite lamin ates can result in laminate failure by free-edge delamination. In the curre nt work it is shown in which way the interlaminar normal stress component i s reduced by means of structural optimization resulting in laminate configu rations with a minor risk of delamination.
