Abstract
Strain distribution near the crack tip of Raman-inactive Carbon Fiber Reinf orced Plastics (CFRP) was measured by Raman spectroscopy. A PbO thin film w as deposited on the measured surface of the specimen by physical vapor depo sition (PVD). The results agree well with those obtained by conventional ex perimental methods and FEM analysis. The proposed method allows to investig ate fracture toughness of Raman-inactive materials.
