Abstract
In trigeminal and hypoglossal motor nuclei of adult cats, hypocretin immuno reactive fiber varicosities were observed in apposition to retrogradely lab eled motoneuron somata and dendrites. Among those lateral hypothalamus neur ons that project to the hypoglossal nucleus some were determined to be hypo cretin immunoreactive and were located amongst the single-labeled hypocreti nergic neurons. These data suggest that hypocretin may play a role in the s ynaptic control of these motoneurons. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science B.V. All ri ghts reserved.
