Abstract
A concise enantio- and diastereocontrolled route to (-)-morphine has been d eveloped starting from a bicyclo[3.2.1]octenone chiral building block throu gh an acid-catalyzed tandem retro-aldol-oxonium ion-mediated hydrophenanthr ene formation reaction as the key step.
