Dp. Almeida et al., Core excitation and autoionising transitions from (IIu)-I-1,3 states of N-2, by near threshold electron impact, CHEM PHYS, 269(1-3), 2001, pp. 159-165
The inner-shell excited states, (1s)(-1)(2p pi (u)) (1,3)Pi, of N-2 have be
en observed by electron impact excitation, as a function of electron incide
nt energy via their decay, by electronic ejection, to an ionic state of the
molecule. The relative cross-sections for the formation of the N-2(+)(X(2)
Sigma (g)) final ionic state, via the decay of these triplet and singlet in
ner-shell excited states, are compared with predictions of a theoretical mo
del based on the distorted-wave approximation. Results of the distorted-wav
e calculations for the integral cross-sections for the transitions leading
to the triplet and the singlet excited states are also presented. (C) 2001
