A quantitative approach was applied to the 3Q-MAS spectra of O-17 to charac
terize a four-oxide glass composition and the alteration film that formed o
n its surface during aqueous alteration. The intensity of the oxide sites w
as corrected according to the quadrupolar interaction based on the efficien
cy of the coherence transfers induced by a 3Q-MAS sequence The restructurin
g of a boron-depleted aluminosilicate gel was clearly visible during altera
