Abstract
The Casimir energy for the massless scalar field of two parallel conductors in a two-dimensional Schwarzschild black hole background with Dirichlet bo undary conditions is calculated by making use of general properties of the renormalized stress tenser. We show that the vacuum expectation value of th e stress tenser can be obtained from the Casimir effect, the trace anomaly and Hawking radiation.
