A growing number of point-of-care devices are becoming available for prothr
ombin time, activated partial thromboplastin time, and activated clotting t
ime, the most commonly performed coagulation tests. Various clinical studie
s have been performed using point-of-care devices, in some cases to assess
whether these devices are sufficiently accurate for clinical purposes. This
article discusses coagulation point-of-care methodologies and clinical stu
dies investigating the potential uses of these technologies.
