Abstract
In this paper, we describe two classes of ternary codes, determine their mi nimum weight and weight distribution, and prove their properties. We also p resent four classes of 1-designs that are based on the classes of ternary c odes. One class of codes described here improves the existing class of tern ary codes described by Ding et al.
