Abstract
A novel approach for image contrast enhancement is presented. A contrast me asure which accounts for spatial structure information as derived within th e context of a nonlinear multiscale representation generated by anisotropic diffusion is introduced. A local contrast map is computed, which is then u sed to enhance the original image.
