Abstract
Optical pulse generation at 100GHz using a 1.5 mum Fabry-Perot laser is exp erimentally demonstrated under continuous wave operation. Although the outp ut from the laser is almost constant: sub-picosecond short pulses at 100GHz are obtained after propagation through a singlemode fibre. The measured ra dio frequency spectrum confirms that the Fabry-Perot laser is passively mod elocked.
