Abstract
50 GHz spaced 40 Gbit/s x 25WDM transmission over 480 km has been successfu lly demonstrated using bandlimited RZ signals and an SMF-based dispersion-f lattened transmission line. What the authors believe is the longest distanc e transmission for a spectral efficiency of 0.8 bit/s/Hz was achieved witho ut using polarisation demultiplexing.
