Abstract
The results of studies on the technology applied for utilisation of poly(et hylene terephthalate) wastes left after production of bottles and other pro ducts by means of their processing into terephthalic acid and ethylene glyc ol are presented in this paper. For the purposes of the above processing, t he method of hydrolysis in an inactive environment without any application of frequently used acids or alkalis has been chosen. Terephthalic acid of 9 5-99.9% purity has been obtained. Its quality allows ifs use as a raw-mater ial in numerous synthesis processes including its re-use in the manufacture of polyethylene terephthalate, as well as its use in the production of co- polyamides and polyester amides etc.
