Abstract
Phytosphingosine is easily cyclized during the protection of amino group wi
th phthalic acid derivatives to form trisubstituted tetrahydrofuran structu
re (2) by the attack of 4-hydroxyl group to the terminal carbon. The struct
ure of compound (2) was confirmed by X-Ray crystallography and synthetic me
thod.
