Plasma furnace is intended for combustion and decontamination of solid toxi
c wastes with throughput up to 100 kg/h. It is a vertical cylindrical colum
n (height is approximate to3 m, internal diameter is approximate to0.5 m) m
ade of stainless steel. Its internal surface is made of fire brick. Three A
C plasma generators with power of 30, 150, 150 kW are mounted on different
height. Quencher for cooling of effluent gases is set at the top of the fur
nace. Temperature-sensitive elements are located in 4 points of the furnace
. Data on preliminary tests of substances modeling solid waste combustion a
re represented. Flue gases samplings were taken for analysis during the exp
eriment.
