Ga. Morris et al., A general high-yield route to bis(salicylaldimine) zinc(II) complexes: Application to the synthesis of pyridine-modified salen-type zinc(II) complexes, INORG CHEM, 40(13), 2001, pp. 3222-3227
A general, direct, and high-yield synthesis of bis(salicylaldimine) zinc co
mplexes from the ligands and Et2Zn is reported. This synthetic method is pa
rticularly valuable, not only because it allows the efficient preparation o
f salen-type complexes of zinc but also because it can be used to prepare b
ifunctional pyridine-modified zinc(LI) bis(salicylidene) complexes, which a
re potentially useful compounds for applications in asymmetric-catalysis an
d materials chemistry. The synthesis and complete structural characterizati
on of a new series of pyridine modified zinc(II) bis(salicylidene)ligands i
s discussed.
