Abstract
The onset of thermosolutal convection due to thermal diffusion in a fluid s aturated isotropic porous layer, subject to a gravity gradient is investiga ted using the Galerkin technique. Results reveal that the Soret parameter a ffects the pattern of convection only when its magnitude is large, both in the presence and absence of variable gravity field. (C) 2001 Elsevier Scien ce Ltd.
