The performance of the classical evaporative summer air-conditioning system
for different working fluids is studied. Also a modified summer air condit
ioning system is proposed. The performance of the proposed system for diffe
rent working fluids is investigated quantitavely and the performance of bot
h systems for different working fluids is compared. It is found that changi
ng the working fluids of the classical evaporative system influences the ef
ficiency especially for Argon by about 8%, whereas the change of working fl
uids for the modified system improves the efficiency slightly. (C) 2001 Els
