Abstract
Tension-tension tests on turned, electro-chemical machined (ECM) and electr o-discharge textured (EDT) specimens made from Ti-45Al-2Nb-2Mn+0.8 vol% TiB 2 alloy, showed the turned specimens to have a higher fatigue strength simi lar to 475 MPa. It is likely that this was due to the presence of highly co mpressive surface residual stresses caused by the turning operation. (C) 20 01 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
