Abstract
A new algorithm which incorporates standard median filtering is propos ed for effectively removing impulsive noise in image processing. This computationally efficient approach first classifies input pixels and t hen performs a median filtering process. Simulation results show that the new scheme, regardless of high or low SNR, displays a superior mea n square error (MSE) over standard median filters.
