Abstract
The proposed optical/electrical buffer configuration for optical-frequ ency routing in ATM switching systems provides low cell-loss probabili ty and uses fewer optical devices since electrical buffers are used to share the buffering load. The shared-load balance is finely tuned by using an intermediate degree-of-multiplexing table.
